What it's about:
Calla Tor has always known her destiny: After graduating from the Mountain School, she'll be the mate of sexy alpha wolf Ren Laroche and fight with him, side by side, ruling their pack and guarding sacred sites for the Keepers. But when she violates her masters' laws by saving a beautiful human boy out for a hike, Calla begins to question her fate, her existence, and the very essence of the world she has known. By following her heart, she might lose everything— including her own life. Is forbidden love worth the ultimate sacrifice?
My thoughts:
Oh man, I loved this book!!!! I can't wait to get my hands on the next book!
From the very first page, I knew I was going to love this book. It was one of those rare books that caught my attention immediately. It had a voice and tone that I love in books.
The characters are pretty great. They live in a very unique world that I was drawn too. Calla was a leading lady who I really liked. She was very real and was trying to do what she is supposed to and yet trying to follow her heart. She even has a Republicans for Voldemort hoodie. I won't lie, I want one. haha. Then there is Ren and Shay. Both boys are amazing in their own ways! I can't decide which one I like better. I don't envy Calla having to pick between them.
I have written down in my notes for the book that a complaint I had was that the werewolf stuff wasn't explained enough. Like when Calla changes, do her clothes rip off of her like Jacob's does in Twilight, or what happens to them? Then I had a complaint about what are the wraiths and why do the wolves not like them? These questions are answered but it took a really long time. I would have liked it if they were explained a little sooner cause it had me a little confused for awhile.
But that is just a small complaint. Nightshade was fantastic! The characters were beautiful, the take on werewolves completely different than any other werewolf book I've ever read, and the ending left me completely baffled and intrigued all at once.
My rating: 10/10!!!!!!
I like how the wolves in here don't lose their clothes like Jacob in Twilight.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read this! Glad you really liked it.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I would liked to have seen the details nailed down a bit sooner. But other then that I really enjoyed the book. The only other thing I had an issue with was she picked the wrong guy in my opinion...lol I wish the choice was a bit more solid... like in Twilight, I know I loved Edward and I knew he was the right choice. In this one the choices were a bit iffy. There wasn't such a strong lead in my opinion! Great review!
