My thoughts:
It is 3:27am and I just got home from seeing The Hunger Games. I can say this with complete and utter honesty: it is the best book to movie adaptation there has ever been. Completely worth the forever long wait.

My reaction when the movie finished:
*sits in stunned silence* Omg....O.M.G....OH MY FREAKING GOSH!!!!! BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!

That was my actual reaction at the end of the movie. I have never seen a book turned into a movie and actually be as good as the book. I always have complaints coming out of movies based on my favorite books. I always think "that's not how they did it in the book!!!!!!" and get all annoyed about the change. That did not happen to me at all during this film. I was just as shocked and horrified seeing it as I was reading about it. It made me smile, it definitely made me cry, and of course there was lots of "awww"ing as well.

The actors:
Remember how everyone was upset when Josh was cast as Peeta? Well don't be sad. He wasn't playing Peeta, he was Peeta. Josh did such a great job with the role. And Jennifer as Katniss was amazing as well. They didn't look like they were constipated and had something in their eyes the whole movie like some other certain book to movie adaptations... (yes yes, I'm talking about Twilight). They actually knew how to do all the right facial expressions and have all the right emotions. The actors were chosen for their talent (and they actually have some! Yay!) and not their looks.

The only thing that was a little off about this movie was the camera. It shakes. A lot. Constantly. The camera is always moving and that was a little hard to handle at times, but it was perfect for the mood of the movie.

Now to wait for Catching Fire.

p.s. anyone else notice how they snuck Nicholas Hoult into the movie? Yay for Jennifer sticking her boyfriend into her movie. Haha.

Movie Review: Woman in Black

My thoughts:
This movie is EPIC! Epic I tell you!

I had started to read this book a few months back because I like to read the book before I watch the movie, then I decided to stop after about 40 pages because I decided this movie is gonna be too awesome and I want to love that more than the book. I was not wrong to do this.

I went to the 9:20pm showing because night is the best time to see a scary movie. The theater was packed, almost completely full and it was mostly teenie bopers and 20 somethings like me. Then of course there were the cheap people that decided not to pay for a babysitter and brought their 4 year olds with them. Surprisingly, those little kids were the quietest of everyone in the theater. Hmmm bet that will change tonight. Those poor kids are probably scared for life because...

THIS IS THE SCARIEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN!!!

That is not a joke. I've seen tons and tons of suspense movies and they normally don't scare me at all. Back when The Ring was in theaters, my sister and I were asked to leave the theater because we were laughing so hard. It's hard to find a suspense movie that actually gets to me.

This movie got to me.

At one point, I actually yelled out "holy F**K" and jumped about a foot out of my seat. The whole audience screamed as well, so it's all okay. In total, I probably jumped out of my seat about 10 times (no joke. 3 times in the first 20 minutes alone). Some people even got up and ran to the bathroom after some particularly scary parts.

James Watkins did a fantastic job directing this movie. Everything about it was freaky, from the stupid kid toys, to the house, and especially the woman in black. Daniel Radcliffe was phenomenal. I know some people are saying they can never picture him being anything other than Harry, but that will not be the case. You completely forget that he is the boy who lived, and instead he is a freaked out father scared for his life.

So in other words, if you love suspense movies, you are in for a real treat, if you are seeing it because you love Daniel but don't like suspense movies (and Daniel is definitely hott hott hott in this movie), definitely bring people with you and something to hide behind (or do what my friend did and hide your face in your purse. haha). I personally wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone younger than 16, but I saw a lot of younger kids in the theater.

My rating: 10/10

Movie Review: Vampires Suck

I went and saw Vampires Suck last night!

The very short and awesome review is this: it was AWESOME!

That's right, it rocked. From the very first line to the very last, I was laughing my butt off. Normally I think spoof movies are beyond stupid (Epic Movie is on my top 5 worst movies ever list) but this one is great. I had trouble breathing at a few parts because I was laughing so hard. I even had to get up and pee during the movie cause I couldn't stop laughing. The trailer did not even play the funniest parts of the movie, which I was very glad of.

Just a warning though, there is lots of swearing in it and lots of sex jokes. I had a 9 year old and a 12 year old with who also thought the movie was hilarious. It does have kids jokes in it as well.

I will probably end up watching this movie again. I loved it!

I am a huge fan of the of the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan and couldn't believe how excited I was for this movie. Was the excitment worth it? Very much so. Did the movie stick very close to the book? No. I would give it about a 50% for sticking to the book.

Couple main things that are different:

1) Percy's age. In the book, Percy is 12 years old. In the movie he is in high school.
2)How Percy, Annabeth, and Grover get across the country.
3)Character descriptions. Besides the age difference, Annabeth does not have blonde hair, and the most obvious difference is that Grover is black.
I personally loved the people they picked to play the characters. Logan as Percy was the perfect pick along with Brandon as Grover. They really seemed to understand their characters and had fun with them.

While I was a little upset about a few of the things left out, I couldn't deny that they were not necessary for the movie. The movie probably wouldn't have worked as well if they had tried to keep everything in it. Chris Columbus seemed to be going for the main feel of the book without keeping it at the same age level. This is a movie that is both enjoyable for a younger audience just as much as it is enjoyable for an older audience.

I recommend that before seeing the movie, read the book. Everything will make more sense. Plus, the book is amazing and everyone should read it anyways.
