This weeks question:
"What very popular and hyped book in the blogosphere did you NOT enjoy and how did you feel about posting your review?"
My answer:
There are two popular books I've read (just this year) that I really disliked.
1) The Forest of Hands and Teeth. I hated this book! I honestly did. It's one of those books I had a hard time trying to figure out why everyone is in love with it.
2) Infinite Days. I wouldn't say I hated this book, but I sure didn't enjoy it.
I didn't enjoy writing the reviews for these books. I knew they would be ones that everyone would disagree with and might even get some people annoyed. I believe I even lost a follower after posting my Infinite Days one. I don't like giving bad reviews in the first place, but when I hate a book, it's even worse.
This weeks question:
What do you do besides reading / reviewing as a hobby??
My answer:
I paint. I'm big into all forms of art, but painting will always be my favorite. I even make tshirts that way.

*grins* I've had books like that! :)
ReplyDeleteBut I think being honest is the best thing, always.
Happy Book Blogger Hop!
I actually liked the Forest of Hands & Teeth but I can see why it wouldn't appeal to some readers. I agree about Infinite Days though. It disappointed me majorly. ANd that's awesome that you paint. If I ever tried it'd probably look a lot like my kindergarten paintings. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower. Looking forward to reading your reviews. I'd appreciate it if you could drop by my blog when you have time. Happy reading!

Hopping through. I didn't love Infinite Days either, although I liked it okay. Silly that someone who drop you for it. Unless someone was ridiculously bashy, and I'm sure you weren't, I can't see dropping a follower.
ReplyDeleteMy Hop
I'm already a follower! I haven't read the first book but Infinite Day's is on my list. Lost a follower over a review?! My! But everyone can't like the same things! How boring would life be then. My Hop is at Coffee Table Press
ReplyDeleteI haven't read either of those but The Forrest of Hands and Teeth is one that I've had on my list for a while.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we would have anything to talk about if we all thought the same books were wonderful :-)
Very interesting, I wonder if I have lost followers from having completely different opinions on a book, even though that is a good reason to stop following.
ReplyDeleteYour 2 were on my 'considering' list I don't think I will read them.

I love it! A question pertaining something other than books! Here's the
ReplyDeleteshort list of what I'm doing when I'm not reading:
Cooking, gaming, gambling, drinking, smoking, golfing and sometimes even
watching TV.

Hopping by to say Hi! I've seen both of those books come up in this meme, but they're still both on my list to get to someday. The only time I stopped following a blog because of a negative review was because the reviewer made snarky comments about people who liked the book, and I didn't think that was cool. I'm hosting a Christmas Giveaway. Please stop by if you get a chance! Let Them Read Books
