Hop and Follow Friday

Book Blogger Hop
Blogger hop is hosted by Crazy For Books

This weeks question: "What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters?"

My answer:
While both are important, I'm going to have to go with characters. If I'm reading a book with a really good plot, but I hate the characters, most likely I'm not going to like the book as a whole. For the most part, books are mostly about the characters. I love connecting with characters. I actually get a little weird about that and truly end up caring what happens to them in the books. Then I get all sad and depressed when the book either ends or the series does. I'm the same way about movies as well.

This weeks question:
Carmel is studying web design... What did you study in college, or are currently studying and did it lead to your current 9 to 5 or are you doing something totally different?

My answer:
Ughhhh I'm actually still in college. I'm in my 4th year. I've been to three different colleges now cause I couldn't make up my mind which one I liked. I've switched my major a few times, but I'm currently majoring in English lit and minoring in studio art. I want to own a bookstore some day, so we'll see if my degree actually becomes useful or not.

If you decide to follow my blog, please leave a comment so I can follow you back!

  2. Hey there, new follower coming through from the hop!

Characters are definitely the most important part of a story for me as well, and I completely understand about getting emotional when a series ends. It's an overwhelming feeling!

I just noticed in your sidebar that you have a cute little 'Team Ash' badge. I just finished the first book and I'm pretty sure I'm on board that team as well...at least I hope it doesn't change, haha. I should be starting the sequel tonight.

  7. You're brave to want to open your own bookstore in this world where p-books (paper) are in danger of being rubbed out by e-books. I've been working in the bookworld for over a decade. Mostly as a bookseller but I took a detour to work for a small publisher for a year. Let me know if you ever want to chat about the state of the book & publishing & bookstores.

  8. I'm totally with plot. :) The most solid answer to this question but it's still on someone's preference. Anyway, read my answer in Clandestine Sanctuary.

I'm an old follower. Have a great weekend.

  10. Hello my dear,

I think that characters are very important. I love seeing what happen to them and I love to swoon over a few fictional boyfriends more then I should. ;)

I recently finished a Biological Degree. Now I am working on a degree in History, Humanities, and Religious studies. I think I might never stop, Yes, the Mad Scientist thinks that she will be a lifer student. LOL!

I'm also the creater of Morbid Romantica Challenge 2011 which I'm trying to get off the ground. It should be a very fun challenge. AND it wont seem like homework. *smirk*

Today was the start of a Hardcover giveaway for Beautiful Creatures and Beautiful Darkness @ Ridley's Giveaway

I love getting comments! I'm always checking to see if I have any new comments. It's actually pretty sad how often I check for them really. So if there is anything you want to say about a post of mine, please say it! I want feedback :)

As of lately, I'm making the blog a no-award blog. I love getting them and I'm always honored, but I don't have the time to do all the things that are required of them. Sorry :(
Also, my "reply" button does not seem to be working in my comments on my computer. I have to use a different computer to reply back so if I don't reply, it's not because I'm rude, it's just that I can't.
