What it's about:
The night is not safe for mortals. Denise MacGregor knows all too well what lurks in the shadows - her best friend is half-vampire Cat Crawfield - and she has already lost more than the average human could bear. But her family's dark past is wrapped in secrets and shrouded in darkness - and a demon shapeshifter has marked Denise as prey. Now her survival depends on an immortal who craves a taste of her.
He is Spade, a powerful, mysterious vampire who has walked the earth for centuries and is now duty-bound to protect this endangered, alluring human - even if it means destroying his own kind. Denise may arouse his deepest hungers, but Spade knows he must fight his urge to have her as they face the demon nightmare together...
Because once the first drop of crimson falls, they will both be lost.

My thoughts:
I adore Jeaniene Frost books. I'm sad that it took me so long to finally read this book. While it wasn't as good as the Cat and Bone books, it was still good.

I always really liked Denise whenever she showed up in Cat's stories, so I was pretty excited for her to have a book of her own. The same goes towards Spade. The only problem was that they didn't seem fully developed. Jeaniene could have done a lot with the both of them if she didn't have to do their whole story in just one book. It sort of felt rushed, especially at the end. I wouldn't have minded it being a little longer and to have had more detail.

This review is going to stay pretty short cause I don't have a whole lot to say about it. The main thing is that you can't really read this as a stand alone. You really have to have read at least the first three books in the Night Huntress series in order to understand what was going on in a lot of this book. Denise is haunted by the events that take place in At Grave's End. There are lots of references to what happens in that book, so if you don't want that ruined for you as well, don't read FDOC first.

If you're a fan of Jeaniene Frost, READ THIS BOOK! I have a feeling that the events in this book will managed to make it into Cat and Bones' story at some point. Plus it was cute. Yes, cute. Jeaniene frost managed to turn her vampires into a cute story. That's okay though cause I like cute vampires. haha

My rating: 9/10

I love getting comments! I'm always checking to see if I have any new comments. It's actually pretty sad how often I check for them really. So if there is anything you want to say about a post of mine, please say it! I want feedback :)

As of lately, I'm making the blog a no-award blog. I love getting them and I'm always honored, but I don't have the time to do all the things that are required of them. Sorry :(
Also, my "reply" button does not seem to be working in my comments on my computer. I have to use a different computer to reply back so if I don't reply, it's not because I'm rude, it's just that I can't.
