What it's about:
Restless Souls and Empty hearts
Brooklyn can't sleep. Her boyfriend, Lucca, died only a year ago, and now her friend Gabe has just died of an overdose. Every time she closes her eyes, Gabe's ghost is there waiting for her. She has no idea what he wants, or why it isn't Lucca visiting her dreams.
Nico can't stop. He's always running, trying to escape the pain of losing his brother, Lucca. But when Lucca's ghost begins leaving messages telling Nico to help Brooklyn, emotions come crashing to the surface.
As the nightmares escalate and the messages become relentless, Nico reaches out to Brooklyn. But neither of them can admit that they're being haunted. Until they learn to let each other in, not one soul will be able to rest.
Why?
I had heard of Lisa's first novel, I heart you, you Haunt me, but had been hesitant to read it because it was in verse. Then I met Lisa at another author's signing and we got to talking. I figured if the books are half as interesting as Lisa, then they are going to be great books. Turns out they are. I love how Lisa's books are in verse because it really cuts out all the other things and gets straight down to the emotions of the book. If it had been done any other way, it probably would have seemed annoying. Chasing Brooklyn is my favorite of Lisa's books that I have read, but I'd recommend any of her books. Both my reviews for CB and I heart you can be found in my review page.
This book looks good. The cover is great!
