Top ten tuesday-- Books I've lied about

Top ten tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a different topic and you write your top ten for whatever the topic is.
This weeks top ten is ten books you've lied about! It can either be books you lied about reading, not reading, or so on.

Because I'm an English lit major, I've gotten really good at faking my way through "reading" books for school. Most of my list is for that.

1. Six Characters in search of an author:
Has anyone had to read this for school before? It's horrible! I got through the first couple pages and had to give up. There was no way I was going to finish it.

2. Babbitt:
This is another one of those books that was just down right horrible but I was supposed to read it for my 1920's American Lit class. Didn't happen. I was able to fake my way through the discussions on it pretty easily though.

3. The Naughty List by Suzanne Young:
I absolutely adore Suzanne. I've met her multiple times, gone out to lunch and talked, but I just couldn't finish this book. It was a little too peppy for me. I hope to finish it some day...

4. About half the stuff I was supposed to read for British Lit last term:
Yup, I didn't read most of it and still passed the class. Turns out that really old British literature is really boring.

5. The Tempest by Shakespeare:
I don't hate this book as much as I let on. It's actually just the really horrible 70's movies that were made of it that I dislike. Ariel is always wandering around in gold paint, glitter, and a spedo. It's just hard seeing someone with my name dressed like that.

6. Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves:
I've been in the middle of this book for about 6 months now and just can't seem to finish it. I really want to like it and I keep telling myself I do, but I really don't.

That's all that I can think of at the moment. I'm pretty honest when it comes to my books for the most part. Well, unless it comes to reading for school but what english major doesn't lie about that?

  1. I can't get through Bleeding Violet as well! I thought it was just me because I read such great reviews about it. Now I don't feel so alone lol. And I'm with you on the The Tempest movies haha.

  2. LOL--great top ten! I think that every reader has probably lied about finishing or reading a book. I know I've lied about several including the newest Dan Brown (I have it on my shelf but just haven't been able to get past the first chapter), make-me-cry books like WATER FOR ELEPHANTS or THE KITE RUNNER, and a bunch of Brit Lit books (like you...too dry for my tastes but I can BS about them with the best!).
    Happy Reading!

I love getting comments! I'm always checking to see if I have any new comments. It's actually pretty sad how often I check for them really. So if there is anything you want to say about a post of mine, please say it! I want feedback :)

As of lately, I'm making the blog a no-award blog. I love getting them and I'm always honored, but I don't have the time to do all the things that are required of them. Sorry :(
Also, my "reply" button does not seem to be working in my comments on my computer. I have to use a different computer to reply back so if I don't reply, it's not because I'm rude, it's just that I can't.
