The Unread Reader. Each week, you post about a guy in a book that you just can't help but swoon over.
This week I decided to pick Trent Kalamack from the Hollows series by Kim Harrison. I have a real sweet spot for all of the boys in the Hollows series. There has always just been something about Trent that I just adore though.
*Comes from a wealthy family
*Is a senitor who is running for govenor for Cinci
*Hair very fine, pale blonde hair
*is an elf (sorry, this is a small spoiler for the first book if you havent' read it)
*Has a very fit body
*Is a drug lord
*over all, kind of an unpleasant man
*have to know him really well to actually like him.
These are not very good discriptions of him, but he's honestly amazing. You just have to read the books to fully understand him.
I have a very very very very clear image of how I view Trent and it was hard to find someone that I thought could play him in a movie. I finally found two people who could possibly pull it off
Trent says to Rachel:
"That's why I want you there, he said. You're unpredictable, and that can be the difference between success and failure. Most people make decisions in anger, fear, love, or obligation. You make decisions to irritate people." (FAFDM)
"He sighed. "You want to live in your church, going about your life as if you're like everyone else."
"You aren't. And because of that, someday you're probably going to find yourself in a position where your choices will have an impact far beyond what you see right now. And when that happens, I want you to remember what it's like to ride through the woods on horseback under a night sky with no moon and nothing stronger than you are. I want you to know so you will fight for it. So that my children will know of it. You have to keep the demons where they are, Rachel. No one else can do it. You won't fight for us unless you know. Let me show you what you're fighting for." (BMS)
"I pressed into him, my hands feeling his outline, his stubble rough against me as our breaths found a rhythm both slow and building. Memories flitted through me, of him in that silly hat as he held me while I died. His white face when he realized he'd summoned Ku'Sox to kill the pixies and I'd already taken care of the problem. His fear in Carew Tower's elevator when it opened and he saw me standing there with Al. His terror at camp as he leaned over me and begged me to breathe after I'd knocked the air out of myself and he thought I was dying." (PD)
