My book boyfriend is a weekly meme hosted by The Unread Reader in which you post about a boy in a book who is particularly swoon worthy.
This week I picked Four from Veronica Roth's Divergent.
About Four:
*Four is a nickname (obviously)
*Strong minded
*Trains the initiates
*He's a badass
Description:
"He has a spare upper lip and a full lower lip. His eyes are so deep-set that his eyelashes touch the skin under his eyebrows, and they are dark blue, a dreaming, sleeping, waiting color."
Who I picture him looking like:
Darren Criss popped into my head and now he's stuck there. I don't remember if he fits the description of Four, but I like picturing him as Four. Any excuse to picture Darren Criss is a good excuse.
Quotes (Sorry about this, but there will probably be some spoilers.)
"I might be in love with you." He smiles a little. "I'm waiting until I'm sure to tell you, though."
"You think my first instinct is to protect you. Because you're small, or a girl, or a Stiff. But you're wrong."
He leans his face close to mine and wraps his fingers around my chin. His hand smells like metal. When was the last time he held a gun, or a knife? My skin tingles at the point of contact, like he's transmitting electricity through his skin.
"My first instinct is to push you until you break, just to see how hard I have to press." he says, his fingers squeezing at the word break. My body tenses at the edge in his voice, so I am coiled as tight as a spring, and I forget to breathe.
His dark eyes lifting to mine, he adds, "But I resist it."
"Why..." I swallow hard. "Why is that your first instinct?"
"Fear doesn't shut you down; it wakes you up. I've seen it. It's fascinating." He releases me but doesn't pull away, his hand grazing my jaw, my neck. "Sometimes I just want to see it again. Want to see you awake."
"Who is he when he isn't Dauntless, isn't an instructor, isn't Four, isn't anything in particular?
Whoever he is, I like him. It's easier to admit that to myself now, in the dark, after all that just happened. He is not sweet or gentle or particularly kind. But he is smart and brave, and even though he saved me, he treated me like I was strong. That is all I need to know."
I am reading Divergent very soon so I didn't read the quotes. But just looking at those pics I am even more excited to meet Four :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't read the quotes either because I haven't read the book yet, but anyone who can be played by Darren Criss is a win for me. I'm crushing on him big time at the moment! Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD, YES! *swoon*
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry. I'm not even fangirling over the amazingness that is Four but Darren Criss. One of my many weaknesses.. *sighs* I'll forever be stuck in this daze. *goes back to staring at pictures* Thank you for feeding my addiction.
Read Me Bookmark Me Love Me
I'm so in love with Darren Criss, so I think he'd be a perfect Ten... I mean Four. :P
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Divergent yet, but I just had to read the quote, even if they are spoilery. Yes, I can tell he is a badass!
*gleeful* I just watched him on Glee. Prom episode just aired in Australia ;)
ReplyDeleteHurry and read Divergent! So good. It's as much a 10 as Darren!

ReplyDeleteYou should be jealous! Lol Darren Criss went to college in my Hometown and he still visits occasionally. I actually saw the production of A Very Potter Musical when it was first created and let me say, that you could tell Criss was going places. I love watching him on Glee!!
ReplyDeleteThough I had a different version of Four in my head...but Darren works just fine lol
AH! I need to read this book! I so can't wait to get this one... even more so now!

ReplyDeleteI just finished Divergent yesterday and I can't believe that you were able to find someone who looks so much like the Four I had imagined in my mind! He looks perfect for Four. :D
