Book Blogger Confessions-- Blogger Envy

Book Blogger Confessions is a meme hosted on the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month and is hosted by For What It's Worth

Question: Blogger Envy: Do you have a bad case of blogger envy? Do you covet thy neighbor bloggers book hauls/follower numbers/blog design? How do you tamp down the green eyed monster?

Oh gosh, yes I do have blogger envy. There are a few blogs that I would love to run. They have amazing designs, always get the arcs I'd LOVE to have, and they have great follower numbers (and certain ones get to go to movie sets and interview the actors. Who wouldn't want to do that???). The ones I really envy though are the ones that are still having a lot of fun blogging. You can always tell which ones these are because they are perky and always have lots of comments because they still have the time to visit all the other blogs and make connections with other bloggers. And that more than the arcs and the designs is what I envy. I miss the excitment of blogging.

Whenever I start to feel really jealous of these blogs, I just remember how much work and time they put in it. Then I think about how much time I put into mine and how that time has been lacking a lot lately. I think of the money that I could spent to hire someone to help me fix the design problems I have with my blog. I think of the connections I could make with effort to help my blog, and know that there are things I can do to get my blog running the way I'd like, but know that I'm probably not going to do any of it. I've had other things on my mind lately and the blog is taking the hit.

Hopefully sometime or another, my blog will be what I'd like it to be and I can stop being jealous of other bloggers.

  1. " I miss the excitment of blogging."

Now I'm jealous of you because that's a great answer!

I'm just finding my way back from a blogging slump. I don't have the same enthusiasm anymore. It really does show when someone is new.

That's why I said in my answer that I don't envy the book hauls anymore because I know what will happen. Blogging can be overwhelming and time consuming.

I think you have a healthily jealousy though. You see it as a way to improve your own blog. (which I love btw - I don't see any problems!)

    1. I stopped accepting reviews because the book haul is insane. It turns the blog into a job rather than a hobby.
I feel like I've been in a blogging slump forever now. It's been all this year pretty much.

  2. Blogging is a lot of hard work and yeah for that get the arc's.

I like your blog design and yes comments are key for chatting and blogging.

    1. Blogging is a ton of work. I spent countless hours creating my blog and getting the design to what it is. There are still a few things I'd like to tweek but don't have any idea how.

  3. Great post! Thinking about what you said, I do sometimes envy some bloggers the amount of time they're able to spend not only on their own blog, but visiting around and commenting on other blogs. I tend to get caught up in my job, and the class I'm taking now, and it seems like I could use about 10 more hours in my day!

    1. Life does get in the way and even when I do have free time, blogging isn't always what I want to do.

  4. Oh that is sooo true! The ones who are so excited and running around and are perky...and here I come after work and I just want to take a nap!

Sometimes your blog does have to take a hit b/c of real life.

  5. It is definitely the time spent on the blog... I personally get bored of my design often so I continue to change it. Finally, I think I've found the one I'm sticking with..

Also, stupid blogger took out the way to use pre-made templates so I can't change my design even if I want to anymore.

    1. They took out the premade templates option? I told blogger to keep the old templates option. I hate the new options they have. They never center the header.

  6. I understand the lack of blogging umph! It is hard to see these other blogs that have been around for years and seem to do it effortlessly. I guess some people just have a knack for it.

    1. I guess so. I find it crazy how they can do the same posts all the time and yet they manage to keep them entertaining.

  7. No matter how much we would prefer it otherwise, sometimes real life just wins over blogging. I'm always in awe of the people that can spend hours on their blog, reading, twitter - I just physically cannot do that!

But we can only do our best :)

I love getting comments! I'm always checking to see if I have any new comments. It's actually pretty sad how often I check for them really. So if there is anything you want to say about a post of mine, please say it! I want feedback :)

As of lately, I'm making the blog a no-award blog. I love getting them and I'm always honored, but I don't have the time to do all the things that are required of them. Sorry :(
Also, my "reply" button does not seem to be working in my comments on my computer. I have to use a different computer to reply back so if I don't reply, it's not because I'm rude, it's just that I can't.
