Book Breakup #2-- Sookie Stackhouse

Book Breakup #2-- Sookie Stackhouse

You know those series that you get all excited to read, and they just get worse and worse until you finally have to call it quits? I've unfortunately have a few of those series. My first book breakup was with the Evermore series by Alyson Noel. My second book breakup is with the Sookie Stackhouse series.

The Sookie Stackhouse series is written by Charline Harris, has 10 books so far and the end doesn't seem like it is anywhere close to coming. I started reading this series after I finished reading Twilight for the first time. I was looking for a good series that was something like Twilight. At first I loved this series. I thought it was fantastic. I think I read the first 7 books in two or three weeks (this was summer of '08 so I don't remember for sure.) Then I really started getting into reading and realized there are sooooo many better books out there! When Dead and Gone (book #9) came out, I bought it and read it. Turns out that book was completely useless in the story plot and didn't really go anywhere. That is when I officially gave up on the series. Will Sookie pick Bill? Eric? Sam? Who knows and I really don't care that much anymore. The story started getting a little too crazy and doesn't really seem to have a point anymore.

Anyone else give up on this series? Or even read it in the first place?

  1. I'm still hoping that the Sookie books make a turn, and get back to good. Yeah, the last few books kind of let me down, but I keep thinking that maybe they will improve.

I read mostly for Eric. I can't let him go.

  2. -.- unfortunitly it's a guilty pleasure. No matter how bad it gets i just can't kick the habbit of reading the Sookie Books. It's the characters...no matter how erratic it's been getting i can't help but want to know what's going to happen to them. Wish i could break up with Sookie like you did, but every time i try i always go back. Guess i'll just hold out on the hope that it might still get back on track.

  3. I only made it through the first couple and then I was done with this series. It's just not written well, and I couldn't get away from that. And unfortunately, for Harris, the series on HBO is more interesting. Is it better? Maybe not. But it's more interesting. And she must think it too since she's started to include things from the show in the books.

    Have a great one!

  4. I'm feeling the whole "when is this thing going to end??!?!?!?" But alas, I'm addicted. I HATE waiting for books in a series though. I just read the first ten the past year so I haven't been waiting that long, but still. IDK. We'll see how long my patience will last.

I love getting comments! I'm always checking to see if I have any new comments. It's actually pretty sad how often I check for them really. So if there is anything you want to say about a post of mine, please say it! I want feedback :)

As of lately, I'm making the blog a no-award blog. I love getting them and I'm always honored, but I don't have the time to do all the things that are required of them. Sorry :(
Also, my "reply" button does not seem to be working in my comments on my computer. I have to use a different computer to reply back so if I don't reply, it's not because I'm rude, it's just that I can't.
