YA or Bust Tour

On Tuesday I got an email from my boss at the library telling me that I didn't need to show up for my shift this Thursday. In which I replied "sweet! Now I can go to Seattle to the YA or Bust tour!" so on Thursday morning I hopped into my car, picked up my aunt and we drove the 4 hours to Seattle to see Stephanie Perkins, Nina LaCour, and Gayle Forman do a panel.

It was so worth the drive and the gas money to see these ladies. They were all so funny and entertaining. At one point Stephanie said something really funny right as Gayle took a drink of water and she almost spit the water out her nose. Good times. Haha

At the signing I was able to talk to Gayle about how she nailed Oregonians spot on in If I Stay. And joked about how lame Salem really is (which is where I live). Gayle, do not let people fool you, Salem is still very not hip. And Stephanie and me were able to nerd out and squeal about the nerdfighters and John Green.
Stephanie and me representing. DFTBA!

My aunt laughed at me when we got done and said "you are on an adrenaline rush aren't you?" and all I could say is "yes, this is like my nerdvana. Authors to me are like rock stars."

All my posters, books, and audiobooks signed and being all pretty.

Darkest Days signing

Tonight was so much fun! My friend Lesa from End of Book and I drove an hour to Portland to go to the Darkest Days of Summer signing.
Ellen Schreiber, Aprilynne Pike, Tara Hudson, Amy Plum and Veronica Roth were all there. We got there a few hours early and mingled with the other book lovers (which is always so much fun!) We met a few really cool bloggers and talked the whole night. Then Suzanne Young showed up and we all got to talking.

The whole signing part with the authors went really fast compared to what I'm normally used to. All the authors talked a little about their books, and then ran straight for questions. I asked Veronica if she had to pick a faction, which one would she pick? She said abnegation or dauntless. Haha go figure. I also told her Darren Criss should play Four in the movie and that she needs to make a facebook quiz about which faction would you be. She laughed and said she'd get right on that. I still can't believe that we are the same age. It blows my mind that a 22 year old can have a best selling book and movie rights sold to go along with it. Crazy.

I was also telling Amy that I think she should do a spin off and have it be from Charlottes POV because I love her, or Jules.

Cassandra Clare signing and GIVEAWAY!

I just got back from the Cassandra Clare/Holly Black signing up in Portland. It was amazing! My friend and I got there 3 hours early and we still were about the 30th people there. I'm gonna guess at least 200 showed up in that tiny little section of Barnes and Noble.
Cassie and Holly both talked about lots of funny things (such as Cassandra finding Mr. Peanut sexy cause he has Robert Downey Jr.'s voice). They had the audience laughing the whole time. Also, the people in front of us named their baby Jace because both the father and the mother are huge MI fans. How cool is that?

A new rule was started by S&S about how you have to buy a book from each author AT THE SIGNING in order to get your books signed. Sooooo I rebought CoFA (but the one with Jace's letter in it. SWOON!) and now I get to do a giveaway!

One lucky person will win...

Book Signings, babies, oh my!

This week has been amazingly awesome!!

Last night, Richelle Mead was in Portland doing a signing!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe how many people showed up for that. I don't even think that many people showed up for Kim Harrison, and I thought there was a ton there. There was at least 150 people. She talked about her books, answered questions, read from Spirit Bound, and signed books. Authors Lisa Schroeder and Suzanne Young showed up as well. (Thanks again Lisa for the bookmarks!)
This is Richelle and Me. I was in the middle of talking while the picture was taken. haha.

She told me she's heard of my blog and I swear I went all fan girly on her. Giggles and everything. Kinda embarrasing when I think about it.

So that was exciting. I love going to book signings.

Other exciting news, my best friend of 16 years had her baby on the 7th!!! Ava Mae is the most beautiful baby ever and she's already stolen my heart :)
I just can't get enough of this tiny baby girl.

5 author book panel

Tonight I went to a 5 author book panel up in Beaverton. Lisa Schroeder, Christine Fletcher, L. K. Madigan, April Henry, and Laini taylor were all there talking about their books. They explained their writing processes, how they handle their editors criticisms, and much more. It's always so fun to listen to authors talk about how their characters have a mind of their own and do things that even they (the authors) weren't aware they were gonna do.

Above picture starting from the left: Christine Fletcher, April Henry, Laini Taylor, Lisa Schroeder, and Lisa Madigan.

After they were done talking, there was a Q&A and signings!

It was a lot of fun. I always enjoy hearing authors talk about their process and how they create such wonderful characters. I can't wait to start reading these books!
